Ive got more links to more game makers - including much more simple ones that allow you to create games akin to the Final Fantasy series as it was on the SNES, and I'll post them up when Ive checked their legitimacy.

Right, I've just spent an hour having a read of the pdf format turorial book and having a go through some of the quickstart tutorials - this thing is awesome indeed!
Not only does it explain everything in depth, but it instantly shows you some quick start stuff where you can dive right in and do some fiddling with some of the provided presets.
I'll be continuing my tutoring through the manual and i DO urge you if you have any interest in the field to get it and have a go - it supports beginners and experts and once youve spent an hour or so on it (presuming you know your way around your own computer at least) you'll be wanting more.

hopefully I'll have some results to show in the next month or so.
