Living in America I am in the victim of horrible television programming that is never funny, and sadly I have now watched every Might Boosh and It Crowd episode I can get my hands on. Wondering if anyone could recommend other good BBC programs for me to check out? I hate having to wait years for these things to maybe hit the states, and more often than not one of our networks just buys the idea and remakes the show into an incredibly unfunny American version. It's heartbreaking. Thanks! -M

Anything with Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson is worth a view. Also 'Only Fools and Horses' is a long running classic! _________________ The Virus of hate infects the ignorant mind.

my god that's Drop Dead Fred! I couldn't place Rick Mayall for a while, but I knew those eyes! The childhood memories come flooding back! I used to have a huge crush on him when I was like 7. -M

If you like the mighty boosh, try The Young ones - it's from the 80s and the boosh draws definite inspirations from there (Rik mayall is also in it too!!)
Definitely give Spaced (Jessica Hynes, Simon Pegg, Katy Carmichael, and Julia Deakin) and Black Books (Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey, Tamsin Greig, and Rosie Day) a try too. I checked on amazon and they're both available in region 1 although you may have to buy 2nd hand (or find them to stream on the web!) |

Pretty much anyone you have seen from Britain (who is in a sitcom of recent years) is a standup - been that way since music hall and the 'club' scene died out. If you need to know what i mean about the 'club scene' i suggest Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights_________________ The Virus of hate infects the ignorant mind.

Ah, see that is pretty common in the US doing stand up before getting a show, but not always the way, didn't know it was really the way it is done there now. Good to know.

I'm a great fan of Doctor Who and also Torchwood, but when it comes to british comedy there is so much, obviously there have been some good mentions above with Bottom and other shows, but I like little britain, peep show and some of the old school stuff like the fast show and Reeves and mortimer just cracked me up!!
